Awards, Honors, and Scholarly Achievement

Below you will find Awards and Honors that I received throughout my career as a student and as a music teacher. They are also listed and described on my Curriculum Vitae. Most are also listed on my resume. Here you will find links and photos associated with them.

Hutton Music Education Fellowship

Music Notes

Beverly Coldsnow Hutton grew up in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated with a bachelors and masters degree from WSU. She taught in Wichita for her entire career and was named a master teacher in 1982. The Hutton Music Education Scholarship was established by Hutton’s children in 2011 because her three children felt it was important to show their mother their commitment to helping promote her love for music education. She passed away in 2015. It is an honor and a privilege to be given the Hutton Fellowship for my final year in graduate school. I hope that in my career I make her proud. I thank Mrs Coldsnow Hutton for her contribution to music education and thank the donors who sponsor this fellowship.

I earned the Sydney has a Sister Scholarship as a senior in high school in 2017 from the non-profit by the same name. This scholarship is awarded to seniors who have a sibling on the autism spectrum. The scholarship is awarded based on scholastic merit and need. The application process included an essay, video response regarding the sibling with autism, and recommendations from teachers. Everyday I am thankful for my brother; applying for this scholarship was a, "no-brainer" and I am thankful they chose me as one of the recipients.
